Chief Operations Officer (COO)

  • Job description: The chosen candidate will carry out the following activities:
    • Support the CEO in developing the strategic business plan and executing its lines of action for the company.
    • Supervise and coordinate processes related to deal sourcing, investment opportunity analysis, deal closes, monitoring of active investments and quarterly reporting tasks.
    • Coordinate the processes and operations of the company, acting as a link between the different areas (investment, legal, finance and communication), taking responsibility for the communication flow between them.
    • Define and execute new operational strategies, working with the CEO and the rest of the team on specific projects, constant monitoring to detect needs and possible business opportunities.
    • Development of networks related to: co-investors, accelerators/incubators, leading business angels, public administrations and investment forums, among others, with whom to collaborate and build a useful knowledge base and deal sourcing network.
    • Attract and manage private and institutional investors to our European Venture Capital Funds.
    • Coordinate and develop, together with Managing Directors, a network of client “Partners” (Private Investors) and organise investor relations activities with Partners and/or potential Partners of the various Faraday Clubs.
    • Contribute to the continued geographic expansion of Faraday by helping to build an international team and network of clubs, operations and private investor sources.
    • Supervise the critical processes of the company: investment/divestment operations, technological developments, commercial campaigns.
    • To be the link between Partners, investees, institutions, external bodies and/or suppliers in strategic matters or those with a significant impact on the company.
    • Analyse internal operations and identify areas for improvement in current processes and methodologies.
  • Academic achievements: BSc/MSc/MBA/PhD
  • Minimum experience: At least 5 years’ experience in senior positions in a regulated venture capital fund or venture capital company, with solid experience in analysis and closing of operations and an extensive network of contacts.
  • Required residence: Madrid, Spain
  • Other requirements:   
    • Previous experience as COO or position with similar experience is desirable.
    • We are looking for a high-level candidate with excellent industry connections and experience, as well as entrepreneurial, commercial, and organisational skills, and a passion for innovation and venture capital.
    • Excellent analytical skills, leadership, and great capacity for commercial vision.
    • Between 5 – 10 years’ experience in Venture Capital funds and investments in Startups are essential. Experience with mergers and acquisitions, investment banking or similar will be considered an asset.
    • Experience in valuation methodologies and models (DCF, multiples, Venture Capital Method, etc.) and investment/acquisition processes (Shareholder Agreements, Data Rooms, Due Diligence, etc.) will be considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of technology companies and new business models.
    • Self-starter personality, with great analytical and organisational capacity, able to work independently and connect with international teams and stakeholders.
    • Bilingual in Spanish with a high level of English.
